Haleakala Night Exposure - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
The time-exposure image has captured star trails (sky motion due to the Earth rotation) in a course of 2 hours at the Haleakala Crater rim; a massive shield volcano that forms more than 75% of the Hawaiian Island of Maui. The large flowering plant is a Silversword, a plant of sunflower family which is only found on the island of Maui at an elevation of 2,100 to 3,000 m of the Haleakala environment.
