Two Celestial Beacons - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
These two celestial beacons are Venus and Jupiter coupled in a close celestial conjunction at dusk. In this telephoto image even the Galilean Moons of Jupiter are resolved around it. When visible, Venus is the second brightest object in the night sky after the Moon. Jupiter follows it in brightness, appearing brighter than any star at night. Imaged on 2015 June 30
