Sirius and Canopus Above Los Angeles - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
The night sky above the lights of Los Angeles as seen from Mount Wilson in the Angeles National Forest. Light pollution of the city vanished the sky near the horizon but from this high altitude location starry sky is still visible further up. In the sky Canis Major (with bright star Sirius) is on the left and at the horizon is the southern star Canopus which rises only a few degrees over the southern horizon at this latitude.
