Supernova - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
The Milky Way and planet Venus in the evening sky over an acacia tree in Kenya. Venus appears almost like a grand supernova exploding in the central bulge of the galaxy. Venus was almost aligned with the galactic center in Sagittarius that night (2-degrees, lower left of Venus), though with the physical distance of over 25,000 light years! To the left of Venus is the bright Sagittarius Star Cloud and 4 degrees above Venus is the M8 or Lagoon nebula appearing in red.
