Venus was almost aligned with the galactic center in Sagittarius that night (2 degrees, lower left of Venus), though with the physical distance of over 25,000 light years! To the left of Venus is the bright Sagittarius Star Cloud and 4 degrees above Venus is the M8 or Lagoon nebula appearing in red.
