The red planet, Mars, at its brightest in our sky (opposition with the Earth). The prominent winter stars appear around Mars. Constellation Orion is to its right an d Gemini with the twin bright stars is below Mars. On the ground is Mount Taftan, a 4000-meter volcano in the southeastern Iran.
