Whirlpool of Time - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
Southern stars over scattered Cactus in the Atacama Desert, Chile. The time-exposure image has captured the rotating sky (caused by the Earth rotation) around the south celestial pole. The Southern Cross is on the left with the pink-red Carina Nebula trailing above it. The South Celestial Pole is empty of bright stars and there is no pole star star like Polaris in the northern hemisphere.
