Los Angeles from 170 Miles Away - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
The Milky Way appears over Bad Water basin in the Death Valley National Park, California. Badwater marks the lowest point in the entire North America, with an elevation of 282 ft below sea level (-86 meters). My new submission shows the night sky over Badwater basin in the Death Valley National park, the lowest point in the entire North America, at 86m below sea level. The Death Valley is also an International Dark Sky Park, the largest night sky preserved area. While the sky is beautiful at this area you can still see the glow from the Greater Los Angeles Area, some 170 miles (270 km) away towards south west. Its an impressive distant to see the light of a city. Date: Nov. 2012
