Winter Stars over the Light of Las vegas - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
The winter Milky Way and bright stars of Orion, Gemini, Taurus (and Pleiades star cluster), and Auriga appear over desert mesquite trees in the Death Valley National Park, California. Jupiter is the brightest object in the view and Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, is rising at the lower right, lost its glory in the yellow light dome of Las Vegas, some 90 miles (~150 km) away.
