As seen on Astronomy Picture of the Day and the National Geographic News, a colorful evening twilight at the western horizon of Roque de los Muchachos Observatory at altitude of 2400 meters above the Atlantic Ocean on top of La Palma, Canary Islands. Comet PanSTARRS (C/2011 L4) and the New Moon appeared in the lucky holes through the clouds at the horizon. Note how the moon is distorted by the atmosphere. An astronomer car passing below the William Herschel Telescope softly illuminated the dome.
