Open to the Sky - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
Starry Sky of Austrian Alps in photographed in this fish-eye view (fulldome) from Ferien Observatory of Alpenhof in Emberger Alm, Carinthia. Above this roll-off observatory and the enthusiast skygazers the Milky Way is captured from star Sirius (left) to Orion, Taurus, and Perseus. The large cone-shape light elongated upward from the western horizon is the zodiacal light; sunlight reflection from dust particles in the Solar System plane. The yellow light across the horizon comes from the nearby towns and faraway cities both in Austria and northern Italy.
