The Southern Cross from Brazil - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
The Milky Way, bright stars of Alpha and Beta Centauri, the Southern Cross, and the notable dark nebula known as the Coal Sack are photographed from near Iguacu in the southwest of Brazil. The brightest star in the field is Alpha Centauri, the closest notable star to the sun, about 4 light years away. At the right edge, between the passing cloud, the bright Carina Nebula is also visible.
