A Desert Night - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
Not far from The Great Salt Lake near town of Kashan, is one of the most attractive sand deserts of Iran, called Maranjab with historic Caravansary located near the lake. This is one of our favorite observing sites due to darkness of sky and natural beauties in the area. In Winter with constellation of Orion shining overhead, is the best time to have one unique observing night at this area. In the bottom left side of the photo you can also find Sirius, the brightest star in sky, rising from pipes.
