The frozen crater lake on the summit of Mount Sabalan, an inactive stratovolcano near Ardabil in northwestern Iran. At 4,811 m (15,784 ft) it is the third highest mountain in Iran. Sabalan is also referred as the place where Zoroaster meditated for some years and is a sacred mountain in Zoroastrianism.
