Caldera after Sunset - By: Babak A. Tafreshi
Moments after the sunset, the Earth shadow form over La Palma, Canary Islands. The Caldera de la Taburiente covers the foreground. The 10-km wide volcanic crater (with walls tower 2000m over the caldera floor) dominates the northern part of the island. The caldera originated some 2 million years ago with a massive shield volcano. At the horizon the neighboring Tenerife island is visible in the middle, marked by spectacular Teide volcano which reaches over 3700m above the ocean. On the right is the Island of La Gomera.
