Planet Mars at its brightest (during orbital opposition with the Earth which happens each 2 years) is photographed over Mount Taftan; a live double volcano of south east Iran near the border of Pakistan. The higher volcano reaches about 4000 meters. The plain around the mountain is covered by volcanic basalt rocks as appeared under moonlight in this image.
