The Smithsonian Institution and Museum at night. Established in 1846, for the increase and diffusion of knowledge, is housing over 137 million museum items, located in Washington, D.C. Standing in the foreground is the statue of Joseph Henry, first Secretary of the Smithsonian (1846-1878).
