The relief of Ardashir I (r. 226-242) the founder of the Sassanid Persian Empire, who is seen here in Naqsh-e Rostam of Fars, Iran, being handed the ring of kingship by Ahura Mazda, the symbol of God. In the inscription, also bears the oldest attested use of the term 'Iran'.
