Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf. The traditional boats known as Lenj are hand-built used by inhabitants of the northern coast of the Persian Gulf (in Iran) for sea journeys, trading, fishing and pearl diving. The traditional knowledge, inscribed by UNESCO an Intangible Cultural World Heritage, includes oral literature, performing arts and festivals, navigation techniques and weather forecasting.
